About Messiah Lutheran ChurcH

Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church is an active, caring, and welcoming community of believers and followers of Jesus Christ.  Everyone is welcome.  We accept the Bible as the authority for our Faith and life.  We are a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, known as the E. L. C. A.  We are a historical and liturgical church which came out from the Church reformation movement of Martin Luther and the protestant reformers who ascribed to the 95 thesis of Martin Luther protestant movement  around the 1517-1648.   Our congregation has been doing ministry in Aledo, IL, for close to 150 years, for the glory of God.  We strive to be faithfull to God's call to teach and preach the Gospel of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and to show love through actions as guided by the Holy Spirit.  We currently have limited services due to COVID-19.  Call us for more information:  309-582-5261.

We welcome you to join us in worship, where we hear the word of God proclaimed in scripture, sermon, and song; confess our sins and receive a sign of God’s forgiveness; celebrate God’s grace revealed to us in Jesus in the sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism; pray, and relate to each other as fellow members of the body of Christ.

Faith

We invite you to come check us out this weekend at one of our worship services. We know that going to a new church can be confusing and intimidating, so we try to do things in a way where you’ll feel welcome and not like an outsider. When you come, you can participate or just sit back and observe.  Our main beliefs are as follows:

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
